Fillers are one of the most searched aesthetic treatments in the GTA right now. They are also one of the most misunderstood.

People arrive at consultations having seen Instagram results that bear no resemblance to what fillers actually look like when placed with clinical precision and appropriate restraint. This guide covers what dermal fillers genuinely do, which areas they address, and what realistic results look like at our North York clinic.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a substance your body naturally produces, that add volume, define structure, and restore contour to specific areas of the face.

They do not lift sagging skin at a structural level. That is HIFU.

Fillers fill in where volume has been lost or where more definition is needed. The result is immediate. Unlike treatments that work through a biological process over weeks, fillers produce a visible change the same day.

Lip Filler

The most commonly requested filler treatment. Lip filler adds volume, defines the lip border, improves symmetry, and enhances the natural shape of the lips.

Well-placed lip filler does not produce obviously larger lips. It produces lips that look proportionate to the face and natural in repose. Overcorrection, the overfilled look that makes lips appear unnatural, comes from using more product than the face can accommodate proportionally. Maryam takes a conservative approach and always works within what the face can balance.

Mild swelling and bruising is normal for twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Final results are visible within three to five days. Results last nine to twelve months.

Cheek Filler

Cheek filler restores volume to the mid-face and defines the cheekbone structure. As we age, fat pads in the cheek area shift and reduce, causing the mid-face to look flat and contributing to the appearance of lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Placing filler in the cheek area lifts and volumises the mid-face, which also improves the appearance of the areas below it without touching them directly. Results last twelve to eighteen months.

Chin Filler

Chin filler adds projection and definition to the chin, improving the overall facial profile and balance. A weak or recessed chin affects how the rest of the face reads, particularly the nose and jawline. Chin filler can make a nose look proportionally smaller and a jawline look more defined without touching either area.

It is frequently combined with lip filler for a complete lower face refinement. Results last twelve to eighteen months.

Jawline Filler

Jawline filler defines and sharpens the jaw structure. It is used to create a more defined, contoured jaw in clients who want stronger facial structure without surgery. It can also be combined with HIFU at our North York clinic for clients who have both mild laxity and want more jaw definition simultaneously.

Fillers vs HIFU: Which Do You Need for a Sharper Jawline?

This comes up at nearly every filler consultation for jawline concerns.

If your jawline has softened because skin has started to sag, HIFU addresses the structural cause by lifting the tissue at the SMAS layer. Filler on sagging skin adds volume but does not lift the underlying tissue, which may not produce the result you are expecting.

If your jawline lacks definition because you naturally have a softer jaw structure rather than sagging, filler is the appropriate treatment.
