How Often Should You Get Each Cosmetic Service? A Complete Treatment Maintenance Schedule

One of the most common questions we get is not "does this work" but "how often do I actually need to come back."
It is a fair question. Some treatments need monthly visits. Others last over a year on a single session. Mixing up the schedule, going too often or leaving too much time between sessions, either wastes money or undermines the results you are paying for.
This guide lays out the realistic maintenance schedule for every treatment we offer at our clinics in North York and Richmond Hill.
HIFU: Every 12 to 18 Months
HIFU works by stimulating your body's own collagen production, and that collagen does not disappear on a fixed schedule. Most clients get one session and see results building for up to three months, then enjoy the lifted, tightened effect for twelve to twenty-four months before it gradually fades.
A maintenance session around the twelve to eighteen month mark, before the lifting effect has fully faded, tends to produce the best long-term results. Waiting until everything has reverted means starting closer to square one. Full details on our HIFU North York and HIFU Richmond Hill pages.
Botox: Every 3 to 4 Months
Botox wears off as the nerve signaling to the treated muscle gradually returns. Most clients need a repeat session every three to four months to maintain the effect.
Interestingly, clients who maintain consistent treatment over a year or more sometimes find the muscle weakens slightly with repeated use, occasionally stretching the gap a little longer over time. First-time clients should expect the shorter end of that window. See our Botox North York and Botox Richmond Hill pages.
Microneedling: Every 4 to 6 Weeks During a Protocol, Then Quarterly
This one has two phases. During an active protocol for acne scarring or significant texture concerns, sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart, allowing full collagen remodeling between visits. A typical protocol runs four to six sessions.
Once the protocol is complete, switching to a quarterly maintenance session, roughly every three months, helps sustain the improved texture and collagen support long term. Details on our microneedling North York and microneedling Richmond Hill pages.
RF Microneedling: Every 4 to 6 Weeks During a Protocol, Then Every 4 to 6 Months
RF Gold Microneedling follows a similar protocol structure to standard microneedling but tends to hold results slightly longer due to the added radiofrequency collagen stimulation. Maintenance sessions every four to six months are typical once the initial protocol is complete.
HydraFacial: Monthly
This is the most straightforward schedule on the list because it lines up with the skin's natural renewal cycle, roughly twenty-eight days. Monthly HydraFacial sessions keep pores clear, skin hydrated, and the surface consistently bright.
Some clients with more significant congestion start with sessions every two weeks for the first month or two before settling into the monthly rhythm. Full details on our HydraFacial North York and HydraFacial Richmond Hill pages.
Microdermabrasion with Light Therapy: Monthly
Same logic as HydraFacial. The twenty-eight day skin renewal cycle makes monthly sessions the natural rhythm for maintaining a consistently resurfaced, bright complexion. For specific concerns like sun damage or pigmentation, an initial series spaced two to three weeks apart produces faster results before shifting to monthly upkeep. See our microdermabrasion North York and microdermabrasion Richmond Hill pages.
Laser Hair Removal: Every 4 to 6 Weeks Until Complete, Then As Needed
This schedule is different from the others because it is not really "maintenance" in the traditional sense, it is a fixed protocol working through hair growth cycles. Sessions every four to six weeks for six to ten sessions catch follicles as they cycle through active growth phases.
After completing the full protocol, most clients need little to no further treatment. Some return once or twice a year for light touch-up sessions, particularly in areas affected by hormonal hair growth. Details on our laser hair removal North York and laser hair removal Richmond Hill pages.
Anti-Acne Facial: Every 2 to 4 Weeks During Active Breakouts
For active acne, more frequent sessions during the initial period help bring inflammation and congestion under control faster. Every two to four weeks is typical until breakouts settle, then spacing out to monthly maintenance once skin has stabilized. See our acne treatment North York and acne treatment Richmond Hill pages.
Acne Scar Treatment: Every 4 to 6 Weeks During Protocol
Scar treatment protocols follow the same collagen remodeling timeline as microneedling, since that is usually the core treatment involved. Four to six week spacing between sessions, with a typical protocol of four to eight sessions depending on scar depth and type. Classic, Korean, and Other Facials: Every 4 to 6 Weeks
For general skin maintenance facials without a specific corrective goal, every four to six weeks keeps skin in good condition without overdoing exfoliation or active ingredients. See our facial treatments North York and facial treatments Richmond Hill pages for the full facial menu.
Mole and Skin Tag Removal: As Needed, No Schedule
This is the one treatment on this list with no maintenance schedule at all. Once a mole or skin tag is removed, it does not grow back. New skin tags or moles can appear over time as a separate, unrelated occurrence, but that is not a sign the original treatment failed. Tattoo Removal: Every 6 to 8 Weeks Until Faded
Tattoo removal sessions need real spacing because the body requires time to process and clear broken-down ink particles between treatments. Six to eight weeks minimum between sessions, continuing until the tattoo has faded to the desired level. Most tattoos need six to twelve sessions total. See our tattoo removal North York and tattoo removal Richmond Hill pages.
A Simple Way to Think About All of This
Treatments that work through your body's biological processes, like collagen building or hair growth cycles, need spacing because the biology itself takes time. Going more often does not speed this up and can sometimes interfere with the process.
Treatments that wear off through natural metabolism, like Botox, follow a predictable timeline tied to how long the effect physically lasts in the muscle.
Treatments that are purely physical removal, like moles and skin tags, simply do not need a repeat schedule at all.
Building Your Own Schedule
Most clients end up combining a few of these on different timelines rather than picking just one treatment. A fairly typical combined schedule might look like monthly HydraFacial for general maintenance, quarterly microneedling for ongoing texture support, and HIFU once every twelve to eighteen months for structural lifting.
Maryam can help map out a realistic schedule based on your specific concerns and budget at your first consultation, rather than you guessing at how often to come back.
